Alex W. Bergman, Associate

Alex joins SCF Partners after more than ten years service in the U.S. Coast Guard. After graduating from the United States Coast Guard Academy with a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering, Alex deployed as a shipboard engineer on the cutter RUSH conducting maritime law enforcement in the Bering Sea and western Pacific. Alex subsequently served in Marine Safety on the Atlantic coast, conducting freighter and tanker vessel inspections, and maritime casualty investigations. In the immediate aftermath of 9-11, Alex organized, trained and led armed teams designed to board high-risk foreign vessels before they can present a threat to US ports.

In 2006, Alex completed an MBA at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, and returned to serve an additional four years. He most recently managed the operational funds of the USCG’s 11th District, which covers the coastal and offshore waters along the western United States, Mexico, and parts of South America. At SCF Partners, he is responsible for the evaluation and execution of new investment opportunities, as well as the support of ongoing portfolio company initiatives.

As part of a military family, Alex grew up mostly overseas, and now resides in Houston with his wife and daughter. In his free time, Alex is an avid traveler and enjoys water sports including scuba diving, surfing, and fly-fishing.
