Mr. Gaut is the founding Chairman of Forum Energy Technologies, Inc., and until May 2017 was also the Chief Executive Officer, having served in those positions since August 2010. Forum is a leading oilfield manufacturing company, providing drilling, completions and production equipment primarily to oil service companies and drilling contractors.
Prior to the formation of Forum, Mr. Gaut served as a Managing Director of SCF Partners, from October 2009 until August 2010. Prior to joining SCF, he served as the President of the Drilling & Evaluation Division of Halliburton Company from January 2008 until April 2009. Mr. Gaut was Halliburton’s Executive Vice President and CFO from March 2003 to December 31, 2007. He was named the best CFO in the oilfield service and equipment industry every year from 2003 to 2007 by Institutional Investor magazine based on a survey of sell-side analysts and institutional investors.
Prior to joining Halliburton Company in 2003, he served as Co-Chief Operating Officer at Ensco plc from January 2002 to February 2003. Mr. Gaut also served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Ensco from December 1987 until February 2003. Ensco is a leading global offshore drilling contractor. Prior to Ensco, he was a Partner in Pacific Asset Capital, a California based private equity firm. He began his career with Amoco Corporation from 1980 until 1986, and served in various positions in the Chicago headquarters and in London.
Mr. Gaut was the Chairman of Reservoir Group Ltd., a leading coring service company, from February 2010 until the company was sold in 2014. He has been a Director of Forum Energy Technologies, Inc. and one of its predecessor entities since December 2006. He has been a director of Ensco plc since May 2008. Mr. Gaut has been a director of Key Energy Services, a well service company, since December 2016, and a director of EOG Resources, a leading exploration and production company, since October 2017.
Mr. Gaut received his bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Dartmouth College in 1978 and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania in 1980.
