MPK Reaches Significant Milestone on the Golden Plains Wind Farm and Deploys its 5th Proprietary Flare 360 Unit
Brisbane, Australia – September 10th 2025 – MPK continues to support critical energy operations in Australia, completing installation of the final turbine foundation on the Golden Plains windfarm in South-Eastern Australia and deploying its fifth “Flare 360” unit to reduce emissions and enhance Australian natural gas production.
The Golden Plains windfarm, approximately 60km north-west of Geelong in Victoria, Australia, will consist of 215 turbines with 1.3 GW installed capacity capable of powering over 765,000 homes. When complete, Golden Plains will be the largest windfarm in the Southern Hemisphere and is a landmark clean energy project for Australia and Victoria. MPK has been engaged on the Golden Plains project since 2022 as the civil balance of plant contractor. MPK is responsible for installation of all roads, pads for turbine and substation construction, and excavation and installation of reinforced concrete turbine foundations. Each foundation contains more than 720 m3 of concrete, delivered by an average of 12 concrete mixing trucks from on-site batch plants, and contains typically 110 tons of steel. MPK has now successfully installed 215 turbine foundations significantly ahead of schedule.
Separately, MPK recently deployed the fifth “Flare 360” unit to operations in Eastern Australia. The “Flare 360” allows coal seam gas producers to conduct underbalanced well maintenance, which preserves the integrity of the reservoir, resulting in significant production benefits relative to traditional methods. In addition, the “Flare 360” unit, by flaring previously vented methane, reduces CO2 equivalent emissions from operations.
Commenting on recent achievements at the company, Adam Machon, CEO at MPC Kinetic, said “The pouring of the final foundation at Golden Plains and deployment of the latest flare unit is a testament to the dedication of the team at MPK and their continued focus on delivering improved solutions to our customers. We are lucky to have an amazing team with a huge breadth and depth of capability, who deliver first-class solutions across renewables, battery installations and gas infrastructure. With a continued focus on safety and service quality we see an exciting future ahead for MPK.”
